About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: - Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC. - The average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 based on acuity. - On average, the emergency room treats 25 patients per day. - Registered Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips. Description: The emergency room is a Level 3 trauma center. Patients are treated for various common diagnoses, including abdominal pain, diabetes mellitus, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension. Standard emergency room medications are commonly administered. Registered Nurses will receive support from technicians who assist with unit secretary work, triage, and patient care. Registered Nurses will be trained to perform Point of Care lab testing. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, providing breathing treatments and conducting ABGs. There are no separate psychiatric or seclusion rooms in the facility. Charge nurses take patient assignments along with their supervisory duties. The schedule is determined based on the needs of the unit, with no self-scheduling options. Floating may be required within the regional emergency rooms. The dress code for nurses is navy blue scrubs. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
