About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years inpatient nursing experience required. License: Valid nursing license required. Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred. - Experience caring for high-acuity patient populations preferred but not required. - Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity. Description: This position involves working in a mixed acuity unit caring for medical oncology patients. The unit consists of approximately 24 beds for high-acuity and 24 beds for medical-surgical telemetry. Nurses may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both based on departmental needs. Patient ratios aim for 1:4-5 but may vary based on unit requirements. Candidates with experience in oncology are preferred, but it is not required. Chemotherapy competence is not required, as training will be provided if interested. This unit may occasionally care for pediatric patients, but such cases are rare and typically handled by permanent staff. There is a heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies. Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring systems, bladder scanners, and various types of infusion pumps. Candidates must have current acute care experience to qualify for the role. Professional references are required as part of the application process. Candidates should be prepared to comply with credentialing processes as necessary.
