About the Position

Job Title: NICU Nurse Manager Profession: RN Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 - 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience; leadership/supervisory experience preferred License: Current Nursing License to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers; Specialty Certification preferred Must-Have: - Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution - Demonstrated experience in the area of oversight Description: This role encompasses a range of responsibilities that report to a Nurse Director. The responsibilities include overseeing the clinical nursing environment. Contributing to strategic planning and day-to-day operations is essential. Standards of care must be maintained and improved upon continuously. The role involves facilitating collaborative problem-solving among staff. Advocating for resources and promoting shared decision-making is required. Implementing the organization's vision and values is a core function. Managing budgets and ensuring employee engagement is crucial. Recruitment, retention, and competency verification are key responsibilities. Ongoing need for the employee to see and read information, labels, and patient needs. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors are necessary. The employee must be able to verbally communicate and hear spoken information quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity is needed to manipulate complex and delicate equipment. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care. The employee may be expected to lift and utilize a full range of movement to transfer patients. Bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment is often required. The role includes walking and assisting with transporting and ambulating patients. Navigating crowded and busy rooms filled with equipment is common. Standing in a stationary position for extended periods may be expected. The employee may be required to drive a vehicle. Expected to ensure nursing care is efficient, effective, and safe. The individual will champion the use of available resources for patient care. Facilitating collaborative decision-making is key to upholding professional independence. Participation in the development and management of budgets is necessary. The role involves evaluating staff competency through performance and peer reviews. Coordinating compliance with patient safety initiatives is a significant aspect of the job. The employee will foster an environment of professionalism and employee engagement. Monitoring and improving patient satisfaction utilizing available service metrics is needed. Partnership with physicians at the unit level to achieve clinical goals is important. Supporting nursing students and facilitating professional development opportunities is required.
