About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 18 months of Med-Surg/Tele RN experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, drains, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation Description: The facility has 457 licensed beds and is a designated Trauma Level III center. It serves as a teaching hospital and houses several centers of excellence. The patient care unit consists of 32 beds. Common patient diagnoses include small bowel obstructions, general surgeries, and various types of fractures and replacements. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:6, with potential increases during surge times. Travelers may be required to float within the region to meet healthcare needs, maintaining scope of practice. Support staff includes charge nurses, resource nurses, and other medical personnel available 24/7. The electronic medical record system in use is EPIC. Day-to-day operations require handling of multiple patient care technologies and equipment. Weekend and holiday work expectations apply, with a schedule cycle occurring every six weeks. Travelers should expect to work 75% of the holidays during their contract. Required skills and certifications are essential to ensure high standards of patient care.
