Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 3x12 Hours per Week | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neurological patients including stroke (ischemic and hemorrhagic), SAH, craniotomies, seizures, and post-neurosurgical cases in a Comprehensive Stroke Center setting
  • Manage and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) devices, external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, and other specialized neuro monitoring equipment such as Camino, LICOX, and Arctic Sun
  • Administer and manage continuous IV sedation, blood products, and vasoactive medications; perform IV starts and central line care
  • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond appropriately to hemodynamic changes
  • Operate unit systems including EPIC, Pyxis, and communicate using SBAR methodology
  • Float within or near the facility as needed per unit requirements; maintain patient ratios of 2:1 with ability to flex to 3:1 during high census

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required; general ICU experience alone will not be considered
  • Strong background in neurological critical care including CVA/acute stroke management, post-neurosurgery care, and EVD/lumbar drain management
  • Proficiency with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
  • Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
  • Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license required

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with arterial line management
  • Familiarity with NICOM hemodynamic monitoring
