Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 18:45–07:15) | 36 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Neuro ICU setting within a comprehensive stroke center, managing patient populations including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, and myasthenia gravis
  • Manage and monitor external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, ICP monitoring devices (Camino), LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun equipment
  • Perform interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, continuous IV sedation administration, and care of ventilated patients
  • Administer blood products, manage central lines and arterial lines, and maintain isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Provide post-neurosurgery management and CVA/acute stroke management in alignment with comprehensive stroke center protocols
  • Float within or near the facility as needed per unit requirements, and work every other weekend

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in a Neuro ICU setting — general ICU experience alone does not meet this requirement
  • Strong neuro critical care background with demonstrated experience in stroke patient management
  • Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, central line care, EVD and lumbar drain management, and ICP monitoring
  • Active certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license required; license pending acceptable for submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with arterial line management
  • Familiarity with unit systems including Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
