On Call, Call Back Requirements Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
Weekend Rotation EOW
Holiday Requirements Travelers will work 75% of holidays Floating Requirements Region 3
 

RN – MedSurg/Telemetry

Shift: 12-hour Nights (36 hours/week)
Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Unit Overview

• 32-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Average daily census: 32 patients
• First-time travelers accepted
• Minimum of 18 months of MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience required

Patient Population

• Stroke
• Respiratory illnesses (Flu, Pneumonia, COVID-19)
• Renal failure
• Peritoneal dialysis
• Wound care patients
• General medical-surgical and telemetry patients

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• RN: 1:5–6 (up to 1:7–8 during surge staffing)
• LPN: 1:5–6 (up to 1:7–8 during surge staffing)
• CNA: 1:10

Required Certifications

• Active RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Required Skills

• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Management of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
• Wound care
• Drain and tube management
• Peripheral IV insertion
• Central line management
• General MedSurg/Telemetry nursing skills

• CNA support
• Charge nurse support
• Phlebotomy services
• Vascular Access/IV Team
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Intensivist coverage 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring available
• EMR: Epic

Floating

• Floating required based on operational needs within the region and within scope of practice.

Orientation

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• Department-specific orientation

Scheduling

• Every other weekend
• Potential low census call
• Travelers work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of requested time off may be approved (excluding holidays)
• Schedule published every 6 weeks
