About the Position
Job Title: Travel RN - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 6A - 6P Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year current acute care hospital ICU experience License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH preferred; TNCC and Meditech experience preferred Must-Have: - Minimum of 1 year current acute care hospital ICU experience - BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications Description: The unit consists of two pods with a total of 28 ICU beds. Pod A, a recent expansion, has 12 beds. Pod B contains 16 beds. There are 42 staff members in total. Day shift includes 1 charge nurse, with a number of nurses depending on census and acuity. Critical care tech is staffed six days a week. Night shift also includes 1 charge nurse, with staffing adjustment based on census and acuity. Patient ratios are typically 1:2 but can be 1:1 or 1:3 depending on acuity. The unit is equipped with Pyxis, Plum Pump IVs, GE bedside monitors, Nelcor, Artic Sun, and Sub Zero. EMR system in use is Meditech. The unit performs neuro surgical and trauma procedures, including cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and managing ETOH/Drug withdrawal. All vented patients are admitted to the ICU. The ideal candidate is flexible and willing to support the team. A positive, patient-centered attitude is essential. Staff members have a wide range of experience, with some having over 20 years in the nursing profession. The new 12-bed ICU expansion has enhanced care capacity for 28 patients. Staff are appreciative of travelers and the intensivists are available 24/7, fostering a respectful and educational environment. Average census for the unit ranges from 100 to 125.
