About the Position

Job Title: Correctional Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a comparable setting License: Active registered nurse license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (to be provided if not already certified) Must-Have: Ability to pass a facility background check Description: No locals within a 100-mile radius. Must be able to pass the facility background check. MOAB certification is required. If the traveler does not already have the MOAB certification, they will receive a 4-hour de-escalation course during their first week. If they do not pass, their contract may be subject to cancellation. COVID vaccine is optional. The facility capacity is approximately 1900 inmates, with the average daily population fluctuating. Currently, the daily average population is around 1640. The RN will provide patients with routine and emergency healthcare. The RN will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to providers, including detoxification, dental, and mental health professionals. The RN will be responsible for triaging and assessing new patients to the facility, conducting detox rounds per protocol. The RN will also handle urgent care and sick calls within the facility. Phlebotomy skills are required. The RN must be skilled in starting IVs, managing high flow nasal cannula, and performing non-invasive airway management. Isolation precautions must be adhered to at all times. Staffing may involve floating between detox, medical/intake, and behavioral health units. The RN will work with an interdisciplinary support team which includes interpretation services and pharmacy staff. Candidates with emergency department or medical-surgical experience are encouraged to apply, but prior correctional experience is preferred.
