Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry Float Pool

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Days and Nights Available

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as a float pool RN across Medical Surgical and Telemetry units, with primary assignment to designated parent units and occasional float to other units within scope of practice
• Monitor, read, and interpret cardiac telemetry strips using Philips monitoring systems; pass a required cardiac rhythm competency exam prior to assignment
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, chest pain, cardiac catheterization, pneumonia, COPD, chronic renal disease, orthopedic conditions, and oncology (chemotherapy administration performed by permanent staff only)
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:5–6, adjusting based on patient acuity
• Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapy, and monitor technicians to deliver safe, coordinated patient care
• Adhere to weekend rotation requirements (every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday) and participate in the facility holiday rotation schedule alongside permanent staff

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of West Virginia
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Current ACLS certification (required)
• Ability to pass a facility cardiac rhythm competency exam prior to beginning assignment
• Ability to read and independently interpret telemetry strips
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility; valid, unexpired driver's license required and must be submitted with application

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry setting, including familiarity with common diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Experience working in a float pool or multi-unit environment
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
