About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS (AHA) ACLS (AHA) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Must-Have: Must be able to circulate C-Section in the OR At least 2 years of high-risk Labor and Delivery experience required Description: The position requires the ability to circulate C-Section procedures in the operating room. Candidates should have experience with a variety of diagnoses, including labor complications, cesarean sections, pre-eclampsia, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, and other antepartum complications. RNs will be required to titrate medications, including oxytocin and magnesium sulfate. Registered Nurses will read their own fetal monitor strips. The unit includes 22 Labor and Delivery beds, with 2 operating room suites for C-sections. There are 7 triage beds and 34 postpartum beds. The average number of births is between 8 to 12 per day. The facility adheres to AWHONN guidelines for ratio management as much as possible. There is no charge nurse assignment on the unit. Surgical techs will assist within the unit. A Level III NICU is available, with advanced practice providers in-house 24/7. Anesthesia services are also in-house 24/7. Self-scheduling is encouraged, although staff may be required to cover additional shifts as needed. Weekend and holiday work is expected. There is a call requirement of 18 hours every 6 weeks. All staff are required to float to postpartum as needed. The unit has specific orientation on-site. Travelers will fill in additional shifts as required. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
