About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU / Pulmonary Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Rotating Shifts (Straight Nights, Rotating, or Blocked Scheduling) | Onsite | Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient-centered care on a combined medical-surgical and progressive care unit managing diagnoses including pneumonia, COPD, CHF, pulmonary embolism, and complex respiratory conditions
  • Perform and monitor oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, non-invasive ventilation, mechanical ventilation, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and postoperative care
  • Conduct moderate sedation monitoring during bronchoscopies and provide cardiac telemetry monitoring
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and specialty providers
  • Document patient care using Epic; administer IV fluids via Alaris pumps and medications via Acudose
  • Float to Med-Surg units as needed; travelers may be the first reassigned to another department based on census

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in South Dakota or a compact state
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum experience with BiPAP, CPAP, Heated High Flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and medical-surgical patient care
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Acudose medication dispensing systems
  • Ability to badge in and out at the facility for every shift
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Specialty nursing certification (e.g., Progressive Care Nursing or Medical-Surgical Nursing)
  • Experience in an intermediate care (IMC) or step-down unit setting
  • Familiarity with mechanical ventilation competencies and telemetry interpretation
