About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years behavioral health experience required, pediatric experience required License: State license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Compassionate care, excellent customer service, enthusiasm for the program Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for patient care. Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program. Assesses patients' care needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Continually reassesses the plan of care according to patients' care needs. In collaboration with the physician, provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups of patients. Assists in teaching patients' families and provides milieu management. Communicates with and educates patients' families or significant others in discharge and aftercare planning needs. Provides a safe and secure environment for patients and staff in both individual and group settings. Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors and reports to the physician any potential risks to patient safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. Creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards. Maintains professionalism and initiates positive relationships with departments, co-workers, and external customers. Provides care in various clinical settings with diverse patient populations. Identifies specific patient needs and implements patient-centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments while promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Provides input into the process for improvement and promotes careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff. May be indirectly responsible for oversight of medication and physical health activities in a program. May be responsible for scheduling and staffing. Role models the mission and values of the organization while presenting a professional image in appearance, attitudes, and behaviors. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In community residential settings, supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment and patient-centered approach. Demonstrates the organization's Model of Care in hospital and residential areas. Upholds the healing mission through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and professional excellence. Maintains annual training and demonstrates competency in required programmatic training. Performs other duties or functions as assigned. May function as a charge nurse.
