This unit will provide symptom management for patients still under treatment. Care includes addressing uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, fatigue, and more for better quality of life. The ideal candidate is a medical-surgical nurse who wants to enhance their palliative care skills while also experiencing high acuity medical-surgical units through floating. RNs must have experience with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions. Equianalgesic dosing of opioids is essential. This newly established unit emphasizes high-quality, patient-centered care focused on comfort, dignity, and symptom management. The primary goal is to support patients experiencing advanced illness or imminent end of life by managing pain and other distressing symptoms while addressing emotional and psychosocial needs. Candidates must meet the requirement of having current acute care experience within the last 12 months. All candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the fingerprinting process.
