About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of prior Telemetry experience required (must have experience in a large, urban hospital) License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS, CPI, NIH preferred Must-Have: - Telemetry experience - EPIC charting experience - Experience managing cardiac drips Description: Travelers are first to float. Registered Nurses must be prepared to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the facility. This unit is a 20-bed general medical surgical and telemetry unit. Patients may include total knee and hip replacements, complicated orthopedic cases, pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses. Patient ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights. Depending on staffing, night ratios can be 1:7 (this is rare, but travelers should be aware). The unit may temporarily have a higher ratio at night due to complex discharges. Registered Nurses are assigned patients for weekly assessments, vital checks, labs, etc., with the support of care technicians and other clinicians. Travelers must work 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period. Weekend shifts are required on Saturday and Sunday nights. Holiday requirements include working 2 out of 3 major holidays. Travelers must wear designated scrubs with facility branding. No local candidates will be accepted; candidates must be more than 100 miles from the facility. Pending license applications are accepted, but licensing must be obtained before starting the contract. The facility is a nicotine-free environment. All shifts may require notification of float assignments one hour prior to shift start. Travelers must adhere to existing protocols including managing drips such as Nitro, Heparin, and Insulin. Experience with telemetry is essential, and a strong understanding of relevant equipment and patient care protocols is necessary.
