About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Profession: RN Specialty: RN - Med/Surg Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Preferred acute care facility experience License: Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Must-Have: EPIC experience Description: Registered professional nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients during a designated shift. Prescribes nursing care based on the nursing process that is consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Coordinates delivery of patient care for patients of any age, including neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Incorporates teaching and discharge planning needs into the overall plan of care. Delegates certain aspects of patient care delivery to other nursing staff based on their current clinical competence and legal scope of practice. Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to assess patients. Designs and implements an individualized plan of care for assigned patients. Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan and the patient's response to care. Modifies the plan as necessary, considering age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients. Collaborates with other disciplines to formulate the plan of care. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages to the delivery of patient care. Utilizes knowledge of pharmacology when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Provides patient and family education throughout all phases of care delivery. Assesses knowledge and plans appropriate learning activities, varying techniques and materials to meet patients' unique needs. Evaluates effectiveness of education by seeking feedback from patients and families. Responds to emergency patient situations or internal and external disasters following established protocols. Oversees delivery of patient care and corrects errors of others to ensure patient safety and wellbeing. Reports observations, reactions, and problems regarding patients to appropriate persons in a timely manner. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for problem-solving and clinical decision-making. Ensures continuity of care by processing and following through on physician's orders. Demonstrates ability to set appropriate priorities in providing patient care. Acts as the patient's advocate, ensuring patient rights are preserved. Demonstrates knowledge of job descriptions and appropriately delegates to staff based on their clinical competence. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Practices registered nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act. Maintains awareness of professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice. Utilizes communication skills to assure effective communication with patients, families, staff, and coworkers. Documents assessments, nursing interventions, and care provided. Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures. Adapts techniques to patients' age and unique needs with attention to detail, accuracy, and patient comfort. Prepares and administers medications and IVs to patients with consideration of age-specific needs. Demonstrates safe use of equipment and performs emergency procedures such as CPR. Demonstrates knowledge of equipment, including electric beds, infusion pumps, and physiologic monitors. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
