Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Preferred acute care facility experience License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification at time of hire Must-Have: EPIC experience Description: Registered professional nurse responsible for a group of patients for a designated shift. Prescribes nursing care based on the nursing process, consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care. Incorporates teaching and discharge planning needs into the overall plan of care. Delegates certain aspects of patient care based on clinical competence and legal scope of practice. Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients and implement individualized plans of care. Modifies plans as necessary, considering age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients. Shares knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages to deliver effective care. Utilizes pharmacological knowledge when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Provides patient and family education to promote compliance and understanding of care. Responds to emergency situations following established protocols and maintaining calm. Ensures continuity of care by processing and following through on physician orders. Acts as a patient advocate, ensuring rights are upheld and intervening when necessary. Demonstrates knowledge of job descriptions and delegates appropriately to nursing staff. Practices nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act. Documents assessments, interventions, and care provided to assigned patients. Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures. Prepares and administers medications with consideration of age-specific needs. Demonstrates safe use of medical equipment and performs emergency procedures as necessary. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Maintains awareness of professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice. Utilizes communication skills to assure effective interaction with patients, families, and colleagues. Demonstrates ability to set priorities in providing patient care and adapting to workload changes.
