Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: RN Specialty: RN - Emergency Room Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Preferred experience in an acute care facility License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification Must-Have: EPIC experience Description: The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated shift. Prescribes nursing care based on the nursing process that is consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate the delivery of patient care to patients of any age. Incorporates teaching and discharge planning needs into the overall plan of care. Delegates certain aspects of patient care delivery to other nursing staff based on their current clinical competence and legal scope of practice. Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, design and implement an individualized plan of care, and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan. Modifies the plan as necessary, considering age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages to the delivery of patient care. Utilizes knowledge of pharmacology when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Provides patient and family education in all phases of care delivery to gain cooperation and promote compliance. Responds to emergency patient situations or internal/external disasters following established protocols. Oversees the delivery of patient care and challenges or corrects errors of others to ensure patient safety. Reports observations, reactions, and problems regarding patients to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for problem-solving and clinical decision-making on assigned shifts. Ensures continuity of care by promptly processing and following through on physician's orders and all aspects of the treatment plan. Acts as the patient's advocate, ensuring patient rights are preserved. Demonstrates knowledge of job descriptions and delegates tasks appropriately based on clinical competence. Practices registered nursing according to the applicable Nurse Practice Act. Maintains awareness of professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice. Utilizes communication skills and appropriate resources to ensure effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues. Documents assessments, nursing interventions, and care provided to assigned patients. Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures. Prepares and administers medications and IVs while considering age-specific needs. Performs emergency procedures, such as CPR, and assesses patient response. Demonstrates safe use of patient care equipment. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
