About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of EPIC experience required License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required Must-Have: - Telemetry experience required - Demonstrated competency in Dysrhythmia Description: Registered professional nurse responsible for a group of patients during a designated shift. Prescribes nursing care based on the nursing process consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Coordinates the delivery of patient care to patients of any age. Incorporates teaching and discharge planning needs into the overall plan of care. Delegates certain aspects of patient care delivery to other nursing staff. Utilizes nursing process to assess patients, design and implement individualized plans of care. Evaluates effectiveness of the plan and modifies as necessary. Considers age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages to patient care. Utilizes knowledge of pharmacology when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Provides patient and family education in all phases of care delivery. Assesses knowledge and plans appropriate learning activities based on unique needs. Responds to emergency patient situations following established protocols. Oversees the delivery of patient care and ensures patient safety and well-being. Reports observations, reactions, and problems regarding patients in a timely manner. Demonstrates accountability for problem-solving and clinical decision-making. Ensures continuity of care by processing and following through on physician orders. Demonstrates ability to set appropriate priorities in providing patient care. Acts as the patient's advocate and ensures patient rights are preserved. Demonstrates knowledge of job descriptions and appropriately delegates to nursing staff. Practices registered nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act. Maintains awareness of professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice. Utilizes communication skills to ensure effective communication with all parties. Documents assessments, nursing interventions, and care provided to assigned patients. Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures. Prepares and administers medications and IVs considering age-specific needs. Performs emergency procedures and assesses patient response. Demonstrates safe use of equipment and performs other job-related duties as assigned.
