About the Position
Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Nursing/Orthopedic Staff Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 7P-7A Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR required, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel experience required Description: Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients and applies the nursing process. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment. Provides pre and post-operative care for various surgical procedures. Implements pain management strategies effectively. Manages chest tube care and insertion procedures. Provides care for PEG, G-tube, and J-tube. Administers traction and drainage care for various systems. Responsible for medication administration and titration of IV therapy. Utilizes NIH Stroke Scale and performs KODA access and central line management. Manages specialized IV drips. Maintains accurate and ongoing nursing documentation. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Maintains patient confidentiality. Addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles. Interacts professionally with patients and families. Forms individualized and mutually agreed-upon plans of care. Reviews, revises, and resolves plans of care daily. Creates teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness. Supervises healthcare staff involved in patient care. Allocates and monitors the work of others. Assists physicians with procedures in the department. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity. Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth through educational programs and in-service meetings. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate supply of materials. Demonstrates flexibility and organization under stressful situations. Meets departmental specific competencies. Performs housekeeping duties and assists with transportation of patients as necessary. Adheres to dress code and policies addressing infection control and safety. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
