About the Position

Job Title: Labor & Delivery/Postpartum RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years LDRP experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM Must-Have: Labor management, circulating cesarean sections, pre-op, PACU, triage, resuscitation of newborns, Pitocin management, epidural management Description: The facility is licensed for 457 beds. It is a Level 3 Trauma center. It is recognized as a Stroke Center of Excellence. It is recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. It is recognized as a Chest Pain Center. It specializes in Client Fetal Medicine referrals. There are 13 labor beds and 5 triage rooms. The average census is between 9-10 patients daily. The unit handles high-risk antepartum, labor, and immediate postpartum patients. Common conditions include active labor, triage, pre-eclampsia, and other hypertension disorders of pregnancy. The unit averages 60-65 deliveries per month. Patient ratios for laboring are 1:1 to 1:2. Support within the department includes a secretary Monday through Friday. There is a scrub tech to assist in procedures. An OB mentor and charge nurse are available 24/7. Phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams are in-hospital resources. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalist and intensivist services are on-site 24/7. Anesthesia and CRNA teams are available. Telemetry monitoring is performed at the bedside and nurses' station. The EMR system used is EPIC. IV pumps used are Alaris. Medication dispensing is through Omnicell. Monitors in use are GE. Unit-specific equipment includes Monica Novii and Neptune. Floating may occur within the region and scope of practice. Travelers may float to various facilities within the region, as needed. Mid-shift floating will be compensated for travel time between facilities. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. Travelers are not required to take on-call shifts. Holiday expectations include working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. All requests must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met. Shift times vary between 0645-1930 and 1845-0730. The schedule operates on a 4-week cycle. Unit culture emphasizes hard work and teamwork.
