About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC Must-Have: PALS or ENPC recommended but not required Description: The facility is a Level III Trauma Center. There are 21 ED beds and 1 trauma bay. The unit has a fast track with 4 beds. There are 2 triage rooms, and travelers are allowed to triage. ER holds are intermixed within the ER. ER staff manage their own ER holds without a special location. There are 4 separate psych/seclusion rooms and 2 ER rooms that can be converted to crisis rooms. In-house security is available. The ER typically sees 125 patients per day with nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and TNCC. Familiarity with common diagnoses and types of patients in a general ED is necessary. There is 24/7 coverage by ED physicians and PAs for 8-16 hours a day. A charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7. ED techs are present for support. The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in use is Meditech. Respiratory therapists conduct ABGs and breathing treatments, while nurses and techs perform EKGs. Telemetry services are available with monitor techs, and RNs can read strips. Imaging staff transport patients for x-ray and CT. ED techs and RNs do most of the blood draws. Shifts are 12 hours in length, with a weekend requirement of every other weekend. Holiday scheduling is based on the contract. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating requirements are not present. Dress code includes any color other than purple.
