About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:30 PM - 7:00 AM) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: ASN degree Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes an initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge. The RN identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN provides care to the inpatient obstetric patient. The RN monitors fetal well-being. The RN administers medication specific to the obstetric patient. The RN provides patient education specific to the obstetric population. The RN participates in the intrapartum care of the patient and newborn in labor, delivery, and surgical delivery.
