Registered Nurse – Emergency Room / Adult Admission Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Minimum 10-week assignment

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient nursing care on a fast-paced Adult Admission Unit that functions as an Emergency Department holding unit, managing admitted patients until placement on a progressive care unit
  • Monitor, interpret, and manage telemetry and cardiac dysrhythmias for a diverse patient population across all specialties except ICU-level acuity
  • Manage frequent patient turnover, including both incoming admissions from the Emergency Department and outgoing transfers to progressive care units
  • Operate and manage a variety of medical equipment while maintaining strong time management across a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio (17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds)
  • Float as required to adjacent areas including the Emergency Department for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care assignments, and inpatient PCU areas
  • Serve as relief charge nurse as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (pending licensure may be considered at time of submission)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required (RQI certifications not accepted)
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and interpret telemetry and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (non-local candidates only); non-local driver's license required on file
  • Must pass EKG assessment (pass/fail; maximum 2 attempts)

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred for Emergency Room placements
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health records
  • Familiarity with progressive care, medical-surgical, or PCU-level patient populations
