About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring Training Required Must-Have: - Charge experience - Labor and delivery experience including labor and recovery of the mother - Ability to receive and transition the newborn including assessment - Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other potential OB emergencies preferred - Advanced skills in fetal monitoring education - Experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil) Description: The unit has 9 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) beds, along with additional facilities for newborn care. Patient ratios are 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections. Couplet care is 1:3, with newborns 1:1 until stable, and NICU care is 1:3 with 2 NICU nurses required in the unit if there are patients. There are no techs or unit secretaries available on the unit. Equipment includes central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, telemed robot for neonatologists, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps. The documentation system used is Meditech and CPN. Staff is expected to work full-time, with three shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays. Staff may be required to float within the facility as needed. Daily safety rounding on all patients is required for patient experience. This unit has a strong experienced team, including several seasoned RNs, making it an excellent learning environment for labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care. The unit is committed to functioning as a team and supporting one another.
