The nurse will work with a variety of patient diagnoses including oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, and sepsis. Common treatments involve mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Experience managing patients with complex medication regimens and undergoing chemotherapy is essential. Nurses are responsible for monitoring hemodynamic status and titrating vasoactive drips. Collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams such as respiratory services and pharmacy is vital. Patients may require specialized procedures such as bronchoscopy or endoscopy. A strong emphasis is placed on infection prevention and management of multisystem organ dysfunction. Ideal candidates will have experience in high-pressure environments and demonstrate critical thinking skills. The role mandates strict adherence to safety protocols and hospital policies. Candidates must exhibit effective communication skills and provide compassionate care to patients and families. Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to work in a fast-paced team environment is necessary.
