About the Position

Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems. The RN develops and implements an individualized plan of care and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment. They assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without unnecessary complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. The RN is employed in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24/7 staffing, including departments with on-call staffing for off shifts. Essential Functions of the Role: The RN conducts accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards. Identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care and modifies the plan to meet clinical outcomes. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, supporting evidence-based practice changes through research utilization. Creates a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff. Manages emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing. Recognizes and incorporates unique differences of patients and families into individualized plans of care. Preserves and protects the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families. Creates individualized plans that reflect patient and family values and goals. Facilitates learning for patients, families, nursing staff, and the community throughout the continuum of care. Works collaboratively with colleagues and the community to develop and implement integrated plans of care. Uses strategies for problem-solving while considering factors related to safety and effectiveness. Improves nursing practice through participation in shared governance and decision-making processes. Commits to ongoing professional growth and contributes to the professional development of others. Key Success Factors: Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards and procedures. Understanding of laws, rules, and regulations governing the provision of nursing care. Knowledge of medical terminology and principles of health promotion, risk reduction, and disease management. Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to observe and communicate changes in patients' medical conditions. Ability to provide quality, patient-centered care to all patients.
