Job Title

Travel RN – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) / PCU Stepdown

Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Days | 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Full-Time | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care / stepdown unit serving CV surgery, vascular surgery, and overflow medical cardiology patients
• Manage complex post-surgical patients including those recovering from open heart surgery, thoracic procedures, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, and fem-pop bypass
• Perform and oversee epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV glucommander protocols
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Operate Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various patient lift equipment; document all care using Cerner EMR
• Maintain a 1:5 patient ratio per RN; float to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown (PCU/IMC) experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Ability to meet weekend requirements: minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week scheduling period and flexibility to work holidays

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience within the past year with CV surgery and vascular surgery patient populations (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a team-oriented and flexible approach to patient care
