Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and record initial patient assessments, establishing care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs; reassess systematically to identify trends requiring intervention.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized, measurable plans of care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of clinical findings and patient outcomes, modifying the plan of care as needed.
- Implement and document timely nursing interventions; perform Point of Care testing procedures as required.
- Coordinate team assignments and delegate unit work appropriately, following up on delegated tasks to ensure quality and completeness.
- Participate in patient and family health education, discharge planning, and orientation of new staff and students on the unit.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license valid in New Mexico.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Operating Room / Surgical nursing.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience in a surgical or perioperative setting.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt readily to changes in work environment, schedule, and patient care demands.
- Strong communication and human relations skills that promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
