About the Position

Travel RN – Mother Baby / Postpartum

Hospital: Mission Hospital – Memorial Campus
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Address: 509 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801
Unit: Mother Baby Unit (5G)

Schedule

  • Shift: Day Shift
  • Hours: 3 × 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
  • Shift Time: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2+ years
  • Weekends: Required
  • Call: None

Unit Overview

  • 34 private couplet rooms
  • Staff: Approximately 78
  • Day Shift Staffing:
    • 1 Charge RN
    • 11 RNs
    • 1 PCT/Unit Secretary
  • Patient Ratio: 1:3–4 couplets

Patient Population

  • Postpartum mothers
  • Healthy newborns
  • Patients requiring postpartum magnesium sulfate therapy

Equipment & EMR

  • Equipment:
    • Alaris infusion pumps
    • Bilirubin blankets and phototherapy lights
  • EMR: Cerner

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Mother Baby/Postpartum nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel nursing experience
  • Experience caring for postpartum patients receiving Magnesium Sulfate
  • STABLE certification

Common Procedures

  • Postpartum mother and newborn care
  • Circumcision care and support
  • Newborn assessments and education
  • Breastfeeding and discharge education

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Floating

May float as helping hands to:

  • Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Dress Code

  • Navy blue scrubs
  • White scrubs or white tops with navy bottoms

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Mother Baby/Postpartum RN
  • Strong patient and family education skills
  • Team-oriented and enjoys teaching new parents
  • Flexible and willing to assist L&D and NICU when needed
