About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Client Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 1 year preferred License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support Must-Have: Stroke experience and NIHSS preferred. Ability to precept and possibly work in a virtual room. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. The unit provides care for stroke and neurological patients, as well as orthopedic and spine patients. The facility is a comprehensive stroke center. Patient ratios include 3:1 for stroke patients and 5:1 for all other patients. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is necessary. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees is essential. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Must respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are required. Educational preference includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher.
