About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must possess the following certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Candidates without these certifications will not be considered for the role. Description: The unit consists of 44 beds. There are approximately 95 staff members. The staffing structure during the day shift includes 2 charge nurses, 11 registered nurses, 4 certified nursing assistants, and 1 health unit coordinator. During the night shift, the structure is the same as the day shift. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 4:1 and can stretch to 5:1. Common equipment used includes IV pumps, patient lifts, and PCA pumps. The electronic medical record system in use is Cerner. Neuro and trauma care experience are highly preferred. Typical procedures performed include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, and IV infusions. Ideal candidates should be team players who focus on patient care. Floating may occur to stepdown units and medical-surgical units. Weekends may be required every other week.
