About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13-week contract Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7 PM - 7 AM) Experience: 1 year of related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification from AHA required ACLS certification from AHA required Must-Have: Must be willing to float when needed Description: 36 or 48 hours per week guarantees are available. Every other weekend availability is required. No call requirement. The patient population includes acute cases such as myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, peripheral vascular disease, and some medical-surgical overflow. The department manages cardiac drips but does not administer nitrates. The registered nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of clinical situations. The nurse provides routine and complex care with the ability to focus on long-range goals and plans. Continues to develop the ability to manage contingencies in clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers by identifying issues and resources. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary. One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred. The nurse patient ratio typically is 5:1 but can be 6:1 on occasion. The dress code requires ceil blue scrubs.
