About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Supervisor Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Supervisory Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Primarily Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours/week guaranteed Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical supervisory experience required License: Current licensure in the state of employment required Certifications: A valid driver's license is required Must-Have: - Clinical supervision - Nursing management - Patient care - Triage - Physical assessment Description: Report directly to the Warden/Facility Administrator or Health Service Administrator for daily clinical operations within the medical department. Manage and supervise daily nursing and clinical activities. Supervise nursing and non-licensed health care providers in the performance of their duties and evaluate as prescribed by the facility and corporate policy. This includes, but is not limited to, training new employees, evaluating performance, and preparing written performance appraisals. Listen to complaints and effectively resolve disputes or problems. Take corrective or disciplinary action as necessary. Develop work schedules for subordinates and approve leave requests. Provide direct patient care as indicated within the scope of licensure. Apply appropriate nursing skills in the care and treatment of patients. Ensure adequate staffing at the facility and fill in as needed during periods of short staffing. Perform nursing duties including executing physician orders, assisting physicians in examinations or treatment, dispensing and administering medications, treating emergencies, and screening patients for referrals. Perform intakes, triage, and physical assessments. Provide and direct emergency care and procedures as needed and call the Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders. Monitor inmate or resident inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate. Provide guidance, supervision, and monitoring of nursing care provided by licensed vocational and practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff. Maintain a good working relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside provider agencies. Utilize established corporate, facility, and correctional policies and procedures in decision-making. Regularly evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of those services. Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records. Assist with the review of medical files to ensure all provided services are documented. Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses. Audit pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as directed or required. Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially regarding controlled substances. Observe and record patient behaviors. Inspect the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband and securely store or safely dispose of supplies and equipment. Provide health counseling and health education on an individual or group basis as required. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of a variety of standard narrative, statistical, summary, and operational records, reports, and logs using appropriate grammar. Read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret medical and technical procedures, governmental regulations, legal documents, and non-legal documents. Review, process, and respond to lawsuits as necessary; attend court hearings when needed. Facilitate the accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of efficiency and approved, appropriate medical services. Prepare and disseminate safety and accident reports as required by policies and procedures. Take appropriate action in cases of serious and unusual incidents and emergencies. US Citizenship required for ICE clearance.
