Responsibilities
- Assess, triage, and provide emergency nursing care to patients with medical, surgical, trauma, cardiac, neurological, pediatric, and orthopedic emergencies
- Perform rapid patient assessments and continuously monitor changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments as prescribed
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures, trauma resuscitations, and life-saving interventions
- Operate and monitor cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, and other emergency department equipment
- Recognize and respond promptly to medical emergencies, code situations, and changes in patient status
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, laboratory personnel, radiology staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and emergency department quality measures
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients and families during stressful situations
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- Current ACLS Certification required
- Current PALS Certification preferred
- TNCC Certification preferred
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred
- Experience caring for trauma, cardiac, stroke, pediatric, and medical emergency patients
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, multitasking, and emergency response skills
- Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to delivering exceptional emergency patient care
