Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: EPIC experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the organization's philosophy. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is crucial to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes an initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifying the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation is essential. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others directly and in private is necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. Identifying one's own learning needs and taking initiative to begin appropriate solutions is encouraged. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is expected. Department-specific functions include implementing procedures and theories specific to ED nursing. Performing patient assessment and developing care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patients are essential duties. The RN executes the plan of care and nursing interventions. Modifying the care plan based on continuous assessment is required. Responsibility for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions and adhering to safety standards is critical. The RN effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy and healing work environment. Providing feedback to peers to aid in professional development, increase knowledge base, and problem solves is valued. The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
