Administering medications safely and effectively is a key responsibility. Monitoring vital signs and patient responses is required. Educating patients on their treatments and self-care is essential. Collaboration with the care team to develop patient care plans is expected. Utilization of electronic medical records for charting is necessary. Floating to different units may be required as needed. Adherence to hospital policies and maintaining patient safety is crucial. This unit caters to adults and geriatric patients with a daily census of approximately 23. Common diagnoses include general medical issues, opioid abuse, organ failure, and behavioral issues. The unit is equipped for various procedures, including management of IVs and more. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Patients typically experience a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4 during days and nights. Weekend coverage may be required, with approximately 3-4 weekend shifts per month. Candidates should be prepared for a credentialing process that includes fingerprinting and reference checks.
