About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12.5 Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Emergency Department; 1 year of travel experience preferred License: Current RN license in the state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred Must-Have: - Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills - Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently - Compassion and empathy under pressure - Teamwork and adaptability in unpredictable situations Description: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic emergency department setting. The ED RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide critical patient assessments and ensure optimal outcomes while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality. Key Responsibilities include performing initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health. The RN will administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed. Monitoring and documenting patient responses to care is essential, with adjustments to plans as necessary. Patient and family education about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care will be provided. Effective triage of patients will prioritize care based on the severity of illness or injury. Assisting in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies is required. Operating and maintaining emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators, is essential. Collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members is necessary to coordinate care. The RN will communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families. Participation in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions is expected. Adhering to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements is mandatory. Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records is essential. Promoting and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety protocols is a key responsibility. Participation in continuing education and training programs to stay current with best practices is encouraged. Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and emergency department performance metrics is also expected. The working conditions include a fast-paced environment requiring physical stamina and emotional resilience. Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of patients or equipment may be required. Exposure to infectious diseases and potential hazardous materials is a risk of the job. Key competencies include clinical judgment and decision-making.
