Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: 2 years Cardiac open heart recovery experience, strong Surgical Intermediate Care experience, experience in managing high acuity patients License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, Critical Care Certification preferred, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in Cardiac open heart recovery - 2 previous travel assignments - EPIC experience Description: The Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit is a fast-paced surgical step-down unit. It is made up of a multidisciplinary team. The team primarily cares for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries. Registered Nurses will need experience with high acuity patients. Nurses specialize in caring for patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices like LVADs. Patients recovering from heart and lung transplants are also cared for in this unit. The 32-bed surgery unit provides care for post-operative cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patients. There are 12 beds available for continuous cardiac monitoring. The remaining beds are designated for telemetry or non-monitored levels of care. Nurse-Patient ratios are typically 1:3 during the day and 1:4 at night. This unit is especially focused on patients who are 1+ days post-CABG, valve repairs, and valve replacements. Nurses are expected to provide high-quality care in a dynamic environment.
