Nursing as a whole

Holston Valley Medical Center is a Level I Trauma Center with services available to provide care to anyone from birth to geriatrics. Being involved in your unit is an important part of the position to stay up to date with current policies, changes, unit based projects, ect. Wellmont is a wonderful place to work and has provided me with relevant skills and experience to advance in my career as a NP.

We occasioinal have picnics & fun time with the employees to relax & have fun

Its very stressful @ times, on a normal day we have between six & eight pts each. Its been a great & rewarding experience. I have learned to show more compassion & have empathy with the pts & family members. I respect the managers over us & have a good repore with them. My co-workers love working with me because i have a great personality & they know im a team player. Im there for them if they need help. The hardest part of my job is a lot of death & dying. I work on a cancer floor with a lot of palliative care & hospice pts. The most enjoyable part of my job or satisfying is to just get a big smile from a pt or family member because they know that im going to take great care of them. I see people in walmart or somewhere else & they let me know all the time that i took care of one of their family members, this is very rewarding
