Travel nurses can claim any means of transportation that have not be covered already like airfare or gasoline costs if you drove your own vehicle. Additionally, one meal for everyday you work can be deducted from taxes if your staffing agency has not already provided you an allowance. For housing, any travel company that does not already have a contact for housing/stipends, can end up as a deduction to your taxes. In some instance utilities like electric, heat, and even furniture costs can be deducted. However, in order for you to have these benefits, you have to be able to claim your permanent residence. However, for more specific information regarding your specific agency and needs, consult your personal tax-prepper!
