over worked underpaid ER nurse

the health benefits are great and it also seems like a much less punative environment than other health systems that I have worked in. 3 12 hour shifts is a good schedule. day and evening staff are pleasant to work with the pay is horrible, not even comparable to north jersey, south jersey or NYC/Philly. the staffing is deplorable. i have 6 patients in the ER. unacceptable. i don't even get a meal break until 7 hours into my shift. most of the night shift staff is bitter, rude to non-nightstaff, expects staff to stay late and help them almost every night and than they don't reciprocate.

RN

Ocean Medical Center has been a bitter experience for me. The main issue I have with this hospital is that there are no doctors in the critical care unit during nightshift, despite residents being present everywhere else in the hospital. This leads to a major concern of the patients' outcomes. Certain times, there are procedures, such as putting a line in, which should take place right away, however doctors tend to ignore these issues and delay this until morning, which can lead to patients' suffering and overall poor outcomes. The nurses have to call doctors on night shift, and when doctors have called me back which sometimes can take hours, personally; I have received mostly nothing but rudeness on their end. Up to the point a doctor once told me "What are you nurses good for, if you can't even draw blood?" on a patient that was a difficult stick. I strongly believe that no matter where you work, or what unit you work in, the most imperative thing is to have doctors and nurses working together to get the overall best outcome for patients, and that is something I didn't sense or experience at Ocean Medical Center. I would not recommend working here or coming as a patient! Even for what the pay that was provided, it is not worth your peace of mind.

Bad service

I was just at the hospital yesterday for resources for a domestic violence abusive relationship they gave me the resources that I needed but I have bad knees, and I was trying to provide a Modivcare transportation for my bad knees because I have inflammation in both knees and I told there where Where I live I told him where I live and that I needed transportation and the And the doctor did the doctors denied it and the lady with the blonde short hair cut Denied my transportation which is poor service me as the patient being serviced is Is my constitutional right? a constitutional right and I have rights as a US citizen but besides that what are the doctors for calling to proceed my ride just saw the doctors at the desk telling me that they never sent the ride for me to get to my current address and a lady got very offensively, aggressive towards me, and made me feel threatened because she was holding a scissors in her hands angry hostile, it made me feel threatened. As well as also, there was security guards gossiping about me as well as making it a problem of my presence of being there as a patient causing drama and rumors going around and gossiping which is instigated I was paying Attention and listening to what the conversation about, and they were mentioning my name laughing and and humiliating me as well, there is a nurse that worked there named nurse White That came at me approaching me very aggressive hostile towards me asking me why was I there and telling me that they are not sending a ride to the location that I live they were playing mind games and spinning me around over and over and over again when they advocated for the ride just to tell me that they weren’t advocating for my transportation and I told him I had bad knees There was telling me anything to spin me around and claiming that they sent the ride when they didn’t That’s what nurse white said just find out that the person that advocated for my ride set my ride came around seven something at night and they were spending me around telling me it’s gonna be there around like 4:00 PM 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM they had me waiting in the hospital as well. They overnight the other night just sitting in the hospital with no type of patient services and help. Nurse, White, as well, was pointing at me, and had the head of the board of the hospital boss made me feel uncomfortable, holding the phone up as if he was taking a picture of videotaping me as I’m sitting here, not bothering nobody waiting on my ride. Having a huge headache and very anxious. No, I have mental diagnosis. Causing me mental anguish and having an extreme headache and anxious and felt like I needed to throw up. So basically what I’m saying is whoever goes to this hospital my advice don’t been around they start drama the gossip and they take pictures and videotape innocent patients like myself and Manipulating they can get sued for doing videos in a public hospital area and exposing patients because patient has rights to and they violated my rights is the drama and gossip and rumors that goes around the nurses in the doctors At brick hospital they they are spreading around about patients like myself being very ignorant all I’m saying is anybody that go there for any house problems? My advice don’t because you gotta protect your rights because they’ll try to violate your rights. So warning be aware and Protect ur rights as a US citizen my advice would be go to another hospital that beat suits ur needs for ur health love urself and don’t let the demons try to manipulate u and cause u any distress and feel and don’t let them vilolate ur rights speak up for urself as I did because every body has their rights and freedom of speak to speak up for them selves when something was done to them and it’s absolutely wrong and never ok to make a patient my like myself very uncomfortable and humiliated by doctors and staff nurses and the security guards and watch out for the boss of brick hospital because I experienced the boss gang stalking videotaping or taking pictures of me with out my permission exposing my mental privacy of being there me I will never go back to the hospital again I used to live in brick New Jersey I went to that hospital they never gonna give me good treatment as they used to but unfortunately unfortunately they gave me poor treatment and service. And I would never go back there again .

Fantastic ER- I love it

I’m currently an agency/travel RN in the ER and I absolutely love it. Leadership is excellent, I love my manager and ANMs. I can’t tell you how happy I am to come to work. It’s my happy place. Such good people from the Doctors to my fellow Nurse’s and the techs. Almost 20 years experience in healthcare and the work environment here is second to none. Lots of love, prosperity and blessings to everyone.
