January 08, 2015 Good learning and hands on enviornment. Good comraderie.3-11 shift. Typical would be report, checking on pts and vital signs. Checking charts, work orders, medications. TAking care of treatments, IV's, walking, bathing, education of pts and families. Communicating with Drs, staff, lab techs etc. Charting, trouble shooting. Sometimes emergency carting patients, transferring critical patients, etc.Hardest part of job was a loss of a life. Dealing with families grief.I enjoyed most all of my co-workers, we laughed and enjoyed working together. They knew they could count on me wether I was in charge of the floor or worked the floor. Most enjoyable part of work is working hand in hand with the Drs to get the patients well again wether reviewing lab work, medication or the charts. The laughter with the patients and the families and being able to help when they needed it.I always went home satisfied that I did the best I could for each patient. |

September 25, 2014 A very professional work enviroment with alot of positive attitudes towards patient care.Depended on which unit I was sent to. First of the shift would be report on my specific patients. I would then go to each room to check on them and start dailey care and then passing meds. If I was narcotics nurse that day would start with a count with another narc nurse. My co workers were wonderful to work with and we helped each other in need if there was assistance to ambulate a patient or pull them up in the bed or even a procedure. I enjoyed all of the patients I worked with even if they were difficult at times. That is life and I made the best of each situation I encountered. I loved seeing them all get well and leave happy with family members. Of course death was never a positive encounter to deal with. I think the worst part was having to call family members to either come say good by to a loved one or letting them know that a family member had passed. |

August 21, 2014 fun place to workEveryday revolved around patient care and education. I learned to start IV's , learned duties of charge nurse, and worked with a fun bunch of nurses and aides. Taking care of elderly can be depressing, but we found ways to make it fun for us and for the clients. Hardest part of job was seeing patients who never had family visit, and we became their family. The most enjoyable part of job was knowing in their last days, the clilents were given comfort care, and they knew we really cared about them. |
