June 09, 2015 Life is GREAT when you love where you work!Having worked here for over 9 yrs, I mean it when I say that I will consider myself lucky if I am able to work here until I retire. Throughout my career, I have worked at several other hospitals of various sizes. The challenge I always ran into was larger hospitals/healthcare systems very much treat you like number. I find AVH to be the exact opposite of that culture. I have always felt supported by my co-workers and by management. They want employees to be happy, to succeed and always reward those who go above and beyond. Work / Life balance has been great since day 1, management seems to understand the 'work hard / play hard' mentality. I've also seen that they prefer to promote from within whenever they can. Cost of living in the Roaring Fork Valley is high and finding housing can be a challenge if you don't live here already, but that is to be expected in such a sought after place to live. Also, due to AVH being such a small hospital there aren't as many career growth opportunities as a large hospital can offer... because of this, I think it's a great place for people to come work once they have established themselves in their career, not so much when they are just getting started. |
