Great place for care. Poor place for long term employment.

A typical work day was 12 hours in length and ran the gamut from boring to run your butt off. The ED was frequently overrun and didn't have enough space to care for the large number of patients we would receive. My co-workers ran continuously and were always ready to help. Even though I enjoyed ED work I found that the longer I stayed the less I was appreciated by management. After more than 25 years of employment in nursing my position was eliminated and revamped with different criteria and different requirements. Since I was an ADN I was not qualified to get the position. My experience meant nothing and my pay was cut over $8.50/hour. I had to take early retirement to be able to live month to month.

A very productive and educational place to work, and the nurses are to be given the most praise ever.

Working as a cna was very challenging and eventful. You met people of all kinds,all in need of one thing ,care. The learning experience was never ending. The hospital had lots of benefits to offer the employees working for them. I also was on the other side of the spectrum ,and as a patient I was treated with the best of care. There is no typical work day. One day is just as eventful as the other, you can't predict what is going to happen, you just be ready.For the most part everyone worked as a team,The hardest part about the job was the ending of life, watching families say there last goodbyes, or getting them ready for the morgue that part never got easier.The most enjoyable part is to be able to make someone feel better than they did before they came to visit with us.
