March 31, 2017 RNhttps://www.reddit.com/r/nursing/comments/3lclhc/nurses_sue_hca_for_back_pay/?st=j0xsrhe8&sh=014b3f4f I was a travel nurse in the ED. Staff are very unhappy and extremely cliquish. I am not sure why it is HCA or perhaps Spotsylvania Regional Hospital standard practice is to DENY their nursing staff lunch breaks. It is cruel and the uneducated Management staff uses guilt and threat of termination as a way to enforce this no lunch break rule or work through your lunch break rule. You are often forced to work through your lunch breaks with the excuse "there are people in the waiting room” IT’S ALL ABOUT INTAKE AND DISCHARGE TIME HERE. THERE IS ABSOLUTLEY NO REGARD FOR PATIENT SAFETY. WHICH MEANS YOUR LICENSE IS IN JEAPORDY!!!! As a matter of fact, HCA has been hit with a class action law suit regarding lunch breaks. This ED cares nothing about safety. They oftentimes herd patients in and out like cattle. As a result, patients oftentimes return BACK to the ER within 1-2 days in a worsened condition because they were discharged too soon to beat the discharge time. The nurses here, in my opinion don’t know any better, Ignorance is sheer bliss! Honestly not to put down the hard work that 2-year grad nurses do (most staff here are 2-year grad nurses) but Professional BSN nurses know their rights and understand that NO ONE must habitually and continuously be made to work through their lunch. If you are a Traveler STAY AWAY from SPOTSYLVANIA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER. Ignorance really isn’t bliss. https://www.reddit.com/r/nursing/comments/3lclhc/nurses_sue_hca_for_back_pay/?st=j0xsrhe8&sh=014b3f4f |
