I have mixed feelings on the facility

This is a former IHS hospital now gone corporate. The facility is beautiful with superb housing for direct patient care providers. I was there for two years and loved every minute of it except for the supervisor that I worked under. He is over bearing, not knowledgeable in that department, interupts flow to talk with staff about minor details not applicable to emergency medicine. It is not just me. he has gone through over 80 nurses in two years. Some should have never been hired, his lack of experience, but some were great ER nurses and he ran them off. I would return in a heart beat. I regreted doing it but I transferred out of the department. Within a few hours I was suspended for actions that everyone did, in fact I was taught to do it during orientation, and the suspension blocked my transfer. He then piled on tons of requirements that were rediculous considering the incident and forced me to resign. My wife loved the area, I loved the hospital, the staff and the patients. Working anywhere but the ER in this facility would be a God send to a nurse but beware and avoid employment with the emergency department for that only reason.

Registered nurse

It’s a hard place to work. The environment is stressful, not because of the patients but due to the lack of good leadership. For example, the chief nursing officer works from home 5 hours away and therefore is not present to deal with the massive amount of issues this place has. It’s chronically short staffed with high turnover rates. Nurse management is a joke and the cause of hostile working conditions. I’m grateful for my time here but grateful I’m moved on. I learned a lot from the Navajo culture but also learned a lot of what good leadership/ management is not. It was the most stressful 3 years of my life.

Housing is really good its safe coz its walking distance inside the hospital. Not a good place to work. The permanent staff are not helpful. It should be working as a team but i noticed that there staff do not know their Job description. I’ve been in the other hospital for me this hospital is the most unorganized facility i’ve ever worked..
