good first nursing experience

Fresh out of nursing school- moved to a new state- knew nobody. hospital was a small community hospital and except for a few, only hired on a prn basis so no benefits or set hours. Was able to work in all departments and gained some valuable experience in all areas. Was only there less than a year due to move back to Tennessee. This was 39 years ago.

What I learned

Working as a Home Health Aide at the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital, I learned how to take care of patients in their most comfortable setting. Its different to take care of residents in a home, than clients in their own setting. They are more independent, and understanding. I had the best coworkers in my department as well. They were all very sweet and caring.
