Poorly managed

Rules always changing. Never an instance where upper management (CNO) could have stepped in an done the most menial tasks. I would not have taken anyone to this hospital for care.

Rural healthcare provider with needs for greater structure and management

Typically, case managers are expected to work an 8 hour day with after hours on call to receive notifications of new admissions. The case manager is responsible for evaluation of the medical necessity / admission criteria for each patient placed in the in patient status.Daily collaboration with the medical staff, patients, and peers I have learned to objectively and accurately determine admission status, guide staff and social workers to assist the patient improve quality outcomes. Rural case managers often do not have immediate access to peers working within the case management field and must rely on study, previous knowledge, and consultation with experts in their field. The most difficult part of the job, for me, is the lack of efficient feedback and the inability to learn the outcome. The most enjoyable part of the job is the opportunity to make a positive impact on the patient, the family, the physician, and the healthcare provider. It is personally satisfying to know that one person can make a difference in the changing healthcare environment.
