Registered Nurse Step Down Unit

I liked the set scheduled hours, easier to work with knowing how to plan family time. Great team work. Company had great float pool program that would fill in places where needed. Continuous education for advancement.

Potential to learn many skills in a short period of time.

A typical day at NMMC may require working on your home unit or being floated to another unit very frequently; therein learning a lot of skills in a short period of time. My immediate charge nurse is wonderful to work with. My co-workers are good team players and we help each other consistently. The hardest part of my job is being frequently floated to other units and expected to take a full load of patients that I am not accustomed to taking care of. The most enjoyable part of my job is learning, teaching, caring, comforting and hoping a I make a positive difference in someone's life.

dependable and stable organization

I have been with this company 18 years and believe it is a great one. However, as I get older I am wanting to be home earlier in the evening and with my current position I am at work as late as 10pm. I have nothing negative to say but do wish the work hours could be more versatile for tenured employees as myself that have worked the 12-16 hr. shifts for years and now need to slow down alittle for family and in some cases health reasons.Overall, I am thankful for my employer and feel blessed to have a secure place of employment as I do. I am just hoping to find more versatile hours at this time in my life.

Friendly atmosphere

Busy, fast paced work environment. Communication from middle-management minimal.

Great place to work. I love my job. Sometimes management can be a bit difficult especially if an individual cannot communicate with them.

A typical work day is answering calls regarding MIS/SCM support, rounding to ensure equipment is functioning properly. Ensuring the doctor's lounge has sufficient supplies (paper) to print various projects. I have learned to deal effectively with patients, family members, and co-workers in a positive manner. To provide support when needed. The most enjoyable part of my job is helping and dealing with others. However, sometimes it can be difficult getting individuals to understand teamwork.
